Maria Luisa "Lu" Mejia Gutierrez is professional dancer based in NYC, who was born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia. She started dancing ballet, jazz, tap and commercial choreography at 8 years old at MISI Productions, the internationally acclaimed musical theater academy. Lu was casted to be part of MISI's professional company at 13 years old and in 2012, Lu Mejia performed at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City with MISI's show, The Most Amazing Story Ever Sung.
In 2016, Lu Mejia moved to New York to complete the year long International Student Visa Program at Broadway Dance Center, in which she received the Outstanding Student Award. Since then, she has created professional connections and has performed with various NYC based dancers and faculty such as Hayden J Frederick, Ashle Dawson, Carlos Neto and Kenichi Kasamatsu.
Lu Mejia is currently a member of The Catastrophe! the contemporary fusion dance company directed and created by Cat Cogliandro.
